The history of the fish restaurant Stegna Kozas begins in 1932… when old Kozas, the only permanent resident of the beach, began to cultivate fruit and vegetables, which he then sold to nearest village Archangelos, outside his small hut.

That is the origin of the recipe: “salad with fish” fried or grilled, depending on the fish, which the fishermen ate as snack (“meze”) after the difficult day at sea.

Since then, a lot have changed and the years have passed; the beach “Koza” was renamed to “Stegna”, due to the dryness and desolation of the place and along with the island the landscape of the bay changed. From the few visitors at that time, the place began to receive a large number of tourists, while now the bay of “Stegna”, has become the ultimate fishing destination for the fans,  locals or foreigners.

And here we are, today… Almost ninety years later, old Koza’s small hut has been transformed into a modern seafood restaurant certified to HACCP & ISO standards. Despite the modernization, the store remains faithful to its traditional values which helped it become famous.  It is the fish restaurant where you can get away from the city routine for a while and enjoy the fresh fish right next to the sea.

The fish restaurant “Stegna Kozas” is located on the edge of the beach within close distance of where the waves break and the sea salt almost hugs the skin.

It was the first restaurant in the area and the only one so close to the sea, the beach of “Stegna”.

Surrounded by mountains, the beach of “Stegna” with its crystal clear waters, is one of the best kept secrets in Rhodes. It is a beautiful beach, ideal for families, with sand and gravel and is organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and sanitary facilities. Some water sports are also available during the day.
