The Location

Stegna - Archangelos

STEGNA

90 years ago, the area of Stegna had only a few scattered houses. The beach was the refuge of fishermen since they went there for their daily activity and the sale of their fish.  It was a refuge at those difficult times.

Going down the road that now leads to Stegna, you will gaze from above at the crystal clear waters of the sea. A magical view intended to give you the first impression of the atmosphere of our restaurant.

Stegna is characterized by exceptional beauty and serenity, and offers different experiences depending on the time you visit it. It has something to offer at all hours. Coffee in the morning, lunch at noon, dinner in the evening, or a drink later at some of the neighboring bars.

The bay of Stegna is surrounded by other smaller beaches, which you can visit by a small boat.

During the 19th and 20th centuries, Rhodesian pottery workshops operated in Archangelos and mainly in the area from Petronas to the sea, in Stegna, which was scattered with pottery workshops and kilns.

It should be noted that many historical texts state that Justinian II took the bricks from the area of Petronas to build the huge dome of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, because they were the lightest found in the Byzantine Empire.

A term similar to the Rhodesian potter was the name  “Petroniatis”,  hence our “Petroniatis salad”, which got its name from its ceramic utensil.
