Scallops
Inside its shiny shell, in the shape of a fan and connected with various myths and fertility, hides the body of this hermaphroditic invertebrate organism. It is, of course, the famous scallop.<br /> The sea hides countless delicious treasures, and as a country surrounded by endless blue we know how to appreciate, cook and love seafood and especially shellfish.
Mussels
According to an Italian tradition, the months that do not contain the letter ``R``, make the right time to consume the most delicious sea shells, mussels. Fleshy and delicious, they have a special taste that is not reminiscent of any other shell.
Limpets
The limpet is a marine snail with a conical shell, which has unusually strong teeth. It is a unique sea delicacy which one can find on the Greek coast.
Snails
The snails have been part of the Cretan food culture since ancient times and have been a companion of tsikoudia and ouzo for many years. These little creatures, which are much sought after, create many delicious dishes that stimulate the taste buds of the palate and remain in our memory, looking for the opportunity to enjoy them again and again.
Oysters
Oysters or the shells of love. In Greek mythology, the goddess Aphrodite came out of the sea through a shell and symbolized love and fertility, as of course the corresponding goddess in Roman mythology, Venus.
Venus verrucosa
They are extremely tasty and sweet and they have a crunchy flesh full of the taste of the sea, and they also rich in iron and zinc.
Smooth clam
The pink smooth clams, have extremely delicious, sweet and crunchy flesh full of seafood flavor. They are a rich source of animal protein and have the highest iron content compared to any other food.
Purple dye murex
The red ``gold`` of ancient Sparta, since some clothes of kings and emperors of that time were painted in that color.
Sea squirt
The color of their flesh is reminiscent of the Aegean sunset. A bite of sea sealed in a rock. Others love it and others hate it because it is slightly bitter and rich in iodine. But this particular taste differentiates them from all their marine relatives.
Sea urchin
It is also called the Greek caviar or the ancient marine ``hoplite``. The urchin can be annoying when we step on it in the sea, but otherwise, it hides the special saltiness and smell of the sea and has an amazing taste.
